Commercial projects can require building, fire, zoning, historic-district, utility, site, and public-right-of-way review, while waterfront work may also trigger state coastal approvals.
Providence enforces Rhode Island’s uniform statewide code, while City zoning, historic-district, development, sewer, and right-of-way requirements affect the local approval path. Local requirements do not replace SBC-1; they must be coordinated alongside it, particularly in dense downtown and waterfront areas.
