Seismic Site Classification

Seismic site classification determines the soil profile type (Site Class A through F) that governs the seismic design forces applied to a building per ASCE 7. The site class depends on the average shear wave velocity, standard penetration test blow counts, or undrained shear strength in the upper 30 meters of soil at the site. Apex Grid provides seismic site classification as part of the geotechnical investigation or as a standalone engineering determination.

How Apex Grid Handles This

Apex Grid Engineering is a multi-discipline firm with multi-state PE coverage confirmed per project. We provide seismic site classification as a standalone service or coordinated with structural, MEP, civil, and geotechnical engineering under one contract. Our engineers produce PE-stamped permit packages that building departments accept — and we respond to plan check comments as part of the scope.
