Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical engineering investigates subsurface conditions — soil types, bearing capacity, groundwater, and expansive or problematic soil conditions — and translates those findings into foundation recommendations, earthwork specifications, and design parameters for structural and civil engineers. Apex Grid provides geotechnical engineering for commercial, multifamily, industrial, and government projects.

What We Engineer

Geotechnical engineering investigates what's below the surface of a site — the types, strengths, and behaviors of soil and rock — to inform the design of foundations, retaining structures, pavement, and earthwork. A geotechnical investigation involves drilling soil borings, collecting samples, performing laboratory testing, and producing a geotechnical report with foundation recommendations and engineering parameters. The geotechnical report is a prerequisite for structural foundation design on most commercial projects and is required by most building departments.

About Apex Grid Engineering

Apex Grid Engineering is a multi-discipline firm with multi-state PE coverage confirmed per project, a business-provided operating and contact address in Queen Creek, Arizona, and a multi-discipline engineering team across structural, MEP, civil, and geotechnical disciplines.
