How Are Diamond Dealer Offices Engineered for Security?

Diamond dealer offices are engineered as layered security zones — public, staff, trading, vault — with mantrap entries, a structurally integrated rated vault, a courier parcel airlock, and redundant UPS-backed power for cameras, alarms, and access control. The vault is designed as a building within the building, coordinated with the base structure from the start.

The concise answer
Diamond dealer offices are engineered as layered security zones — public, staff, trading, vault — with mantrap entries, a structurally integrated rated vault, a courier parcel airlock, and redundant UPS-backed power for cameras, alarms, and access control. The vault is designed as a building within the building, coordinated with the base structure from the start. The threat model is organized and well-funded, so the engineering has to be systematic: every layer of the floor plan gets its own access control, its own camera coverage, and its own power logic. Half-measures — a great vault with a weak parcel handoff, or great cameras on utility power — are where real losses happen.
Zoning, the vault, and unbreakable power
The floor plan is drawn as concentric security zones, and the MEP design follows: access control readers and electric strikes at every boundary, cameras covering every transition, and intrusion detection layered over it all. The vault construction — rated walls, ceiling, floor, and door — is detailed on the structural drawings with the foundation work it needs, and every penetration (power, data, HVAC, sprinkler) is detailed to preserve the rating. There are no casual holes in a vault. The electrical design separates the security branch completely: its own panel, UPS, and where warranted a generator, with monitoring so a failed UPS battery is discovered by the system and not during an outage. The parcel airlock gets interlocked doors, intercom, and cameras. HVAC and fire protection serve every zone per code, with egress hardware that keeps the life-safety path working even where the security wants doors locked — the two are reconciled in the hardware schedule, never left to the field.
Diamond office engineering checklist
Layered zones, a real vault, and power that never blinks.
- Draw the floor plan as concentric security zones and wire access control at every boundary
- Design the vault as structure: rated enclosure, foundation verification, and detailed penetrations
- Build a courier parcel airlock so goods change hands without breaching the secure zone
- Back the entire security branch with UPS plus generator where warranted, on separate distribution
- Reconcile security locking with fire egress in the hardware schedule — life safety is non-negotiable
